Island stripes for any windowsill. The Hawaiian Spider Plant (Chlorophytum) opens glossy green ribbons brushed with champagne stripes that soften as each leaf matures.

It carries the same unbothered attitude as every spider plant, growing through missed waterings and average light like nothing happened.

Hawaiian Spider Plant care

  • Light: Adaptable, from bright kitchens to medium lit bedrooms.
  • Water: Let the top inch go dry, then water until it runs through.
  • Feed: Skip heavy fertilizer, it browns the leaf tips.
  • Pets: Non toxic and famously cat approved.
  • Growth: Arching mounds followed by cascades of plantlets.

Why do spider plant tips turn brown?

Fluoride and salts in tap water are the usual culprits, not neglect. Switch to filtered or rainwater, snip the brown tips at an angle, and new growth comes in clean.
