The tree that makes the room. The Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata) raises broad, violin shaped leaves into a living column of green that interior photos have been built around for a decade.

It rewards a stable routine: same bright spot, same watering rhythm, slow steady growth into the statement piece of your home.

Fiddle Leaf Fig care

  • Light: Very bright, near a window with some gentle morning sun.
  • Water: A thorough drink when the top two inches dry, then drain fully.
  • Spot: Pick its place once and resist rearranging.
  • Pets: Sap is irritating and toxic if chewed, keep pets off the leaves.
  • Growth: A few feet a year in good light, to ceiling height eventually.

Why does a Fiddle Leaf Fig drop leaves?

Change. Moves, drafts, sudden watering swings. Fiddles are homebodies, so when one drops leaves, look at what changed recently rather than adding more water by reflex. Stability brings them back.
